Ronee Hui is British born Chinese and lives and works in London. Originally studying photography and computer assisted fine art, she completed a Masters in Fine Art at Middlesex University in London under Professor Jon Thompson in 2002.
Selected for a commission by the Chinese Arts Centre as part of the performance based collaboration, Creature Unlike Any Another, (C.U.A.O.) in 2000, she has since received an Individual Artist Award in 2004 from the Arts Council of England and, a British Council Travel Award in 2006.
Her work which incorporates a wide range of media that includes object and text based-works together with sculpture, installation, video and photography, has been included in group exhibitions in Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Canada, China and Cuba. Major shows include the 6th Sharjah International Biennial of Contemporary Art in the United Arab Emirates and the 25th Viper International Festival of Film, Video and New Media, in Basel, Switzerland.
